PORT BLAIR

Though surrounded by attractive lush forest and rugged coastline, Port Blair is more or less your typical Indian town that serves as the provincial capital of the Andamans. It’s a vibrant mix of Indian Ocean inhabitants – Bengalis, Tamils, Telugus, Nicobarese and Burmese. Most travellers don’t hang around any longer than necessary (usually one or two days while waiting to book onward travel in the islands, or returning for departure), but PB’s fascinating history makes for some worthwhile sightseeing that warrants exploration.

HAVELOCK ISLAND

The most visited of the islands, with the most (although still minimal) infrastructure. Beautiful beaches, great snorkeling and scuba diving.

Day 01: Arrival - Port Blair City Tour - Cellular Jail Light & Sound Show (Monday closed)
Arrival at Port Blair in the morning and transfer to respective Hotel. After checkin proceed for a City Tour of Port Blair which includes the Fisheries Museum (Aquarium) - exhibits species of marine life peculiar to the islands, Anthropological Museum - displays tribal essential and artefacts’, Naval Marine Museum (Samudrika) - gives a good retrospect of the history, shells, Corals marine life, geography and archaeology of these islands and the Water Sports Complex. Later proceed to the National Monument the Cellular Jail, and witness the saga of the Indian Freedom struggle through the Light and Sound Show, held within the same complex. Return to Hotel. Stay Overnight in  Port Blair.

Day 02: Havelock Island
After breakfast and as per ferry timing transfer to Jetty to take the onward ferry to Havelock Island.  On arrival at Havelock Island, our representative will receive and escort you to check-in to the respective hotel / resort. After checkin, proceed to the Radhanagar Beach, one of the most picturesque beaches on the Islands. The beach has also been ranked 07th among the beaches of Asia by the TIME magazine. Return to hotel / resort. Stay Overnight in  Havelock Island.

Day 03: Havelock Island - Elephant beach
After breakfast proceed to Elephant beach with one session of Snorkeling  in a sharing fiber speed boat, this beach offers snorkelers calm blue shallow waters and is the perfect spot for beginner snorkelers. It’s also a great place to just spend time lazing on the beach. The beach is very scenic with fallen trees and white sand giving the photographer some beautiful pictures to take back home.  Stay Overnight in Havelock Island.

Day 04: Return to Port Blair from Havelock Island. (Check out time 0800 hrs)
Morning at leisure.   Later in the afternoon transfer to Havelock Jetty to take the return ferry to Port Blair as per ferry timing. Upon return from Havelock Island, transfer to Hotel. Overnight stay at respective Hotel / Resort at Port Blair.

Day 05: Departure
Drop at Airport. Return home with memories of a wonderful holiday. (Check out time 0800 hrs)

India outdoor living equipments,Jewelry, wood-carvings and Port Blair t-shirts are available around Aberdeen Bazaar,Samudrika (Govt. museum). This is a govt. museum, ask anyone for directions. Autowala will take you there.Sagarika (Govt. emporium). This is a government emporium where local made goods are available.

Havlock Shopping Tips -

Govind Nagar has a few basic shops selling daily essentials plus a small pharmacy. If you pick up one of the ubiquitous Andaman & Nicobar T-shirts sold everywhere for Rs.50, take one with black printing, as white text bleeds off the first time you wash it.

INDIAN RESTAURANTS IN PORT BLAIR-

Annaporna Cafeteria-  Pure vegetarian restaurant, offering both South and North Indian and also Jain food. Moderately Costly. 

Icy Spicy- Pure Vegetarian Restaurant in the North Indian taste. They also have a sweets and chaat counter which serves best sweets in Andamans.Best vegetarian restaurant in the city.Moderate

kattaboman hotel - Vegetarian Restaurant Very delicious south indian food available at very reasonable price.must go there at least for one time.

Lighthouse Residency- One of Port Blair's best restaurants, with a good (Indianized) Chinese-Thai menu and North Indian favorites. The speciality here is fresh seafood; check the price and pick your fish. The tandoori masala fish is outstanding.

Blue Sea Hotel- It is one of the newly opened place, service best South Indian food in the city. It is very clean and reasonable.  

Ananda Restaurant- Cheap & best. Try the range of south indian dishes. Bombay meal is also awesome.

INDIAN RESTAURANTS IN HAVELOCK ISLAND -

Geetha Restraunt - Grilled fish,Prawns ... Grilled Fish starts from Rs 150 to Rs 350 ( Jan 2012) varies with size...

Catch of the Day is for sale near the port on Beach #1 in the afternoons, and you can have your guesthouse cook it up for a fee.

Pristine Beach Resort, Orient Legend Resort and the others in the same vein all have restaurants serving the catch of the day, local Indian food and some traveler's favorites like french fries and chow mein.

Symphony Palms Beach Resort has their own restaurant which has very good vegetarian food.
